She heard that I draw and paint - and was delighted, saying I must have inherited the interest from my father, who was a very talented painter in her opinion. I do remember him being very encouraging when I was drawing and have a particular memory of him patiently showing me how to draw a side view of a hand when I was struggling with this. However, I agree with you and Rabble 4 that there were only photographs on the walls at home. What a pity that the paintings he did (certainly before I have any memory of them) have disappeared - I wonder if rabble 0.5 would remember them?Rabble No 3https://www.blogger.com/profile/08378365848942693824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7132030549093997942.post-82507059147362506132016-03-06T03:54:11.609-08:002016-03-06T03:54:11.609-08:00Thanks. I do remember old family photos, but no reproductions of The Haywain or anything like that.Ian Cowmeadowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06051117972041298072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7132030549093997942.post-76745100370466434232016-03-05T09:41:46.037-08:002016-03-05T09:41:46.037-08:00Great post! I don't really know anything about Dad's taste in art but I am fairly convinced that the artistic members of the family may have got their talents from that side of the family. I suppose Dad's beautiful handwriting makes me think that this is so. The pictures that I remember on the walls at home were family photographs some of which were sepia, hand tinted. I remember that there were always plenty of pencils, crayons and paper available and that I spent hours designing outfits for my paper dolls -and filling in old football pool sheets with different coloured crosses to make patterns.
